The Philadelphia Sound at Carnegie Hall

The storied Philadelphia Orchestra has had more than its share of financial struggles in recent years, but appears to be recovering strongly under the leadership of its new music director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Here, the maestro leads the orchestra in a recent Carnegie Hall appearance with Leonidas Kavakos on the violin in Szymanowski’s Second Violin Concerto. The concert opens with Ravel’s “La Valse” and concludes with Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony.
