There are lots of devotees out there discovering overlooked gems. Here’s one from Classical Joe, at Classical Archives, a subscription service with a comprehensive offering of classical recordings at $7.99 a month. Johann Philipp-Kreiger was a German composer and organist born in the 17th century, and this sonata is for violin and viola da gamba, a period string instrument differing from the violin in some details we won’t trouble you with. Kerstin Linder-Dewan is on violin; Jordi Comellas plays the viola da gamba, and Alberto Martínez Molina is on harpsichord.
You can buy the album in the U.S. at iTunes.
